Ian Laing
Born and raised in Victoria, B.C., Ian attended University of Victoria and University of British Columbia, majoring in Urban Land Economics. During this time, he learned the fundamentals of bank financing, which enabled him to take the initial leap of faith in investing: in his fourth year at UBC, he bought a 16-unit apartment building.
From there, Ian ventured into all other facets of the real estate and business world: restorations, custom homes, subdivisions, condominiums, apartment buildings, office buildings, and industrial buildings. Today, Ian’s specialty lies in reinventing challenging properties. In May 2015, he was honoured with the Award of Merit by the Hallmark Heritage Society for outstanding restoration of 723 Field Street, a 30-unit apartment building.
Whether he’s renovating a heritage building or developing a subdivision, Ian’s boots are on the ground from conception to completion, and his ardour for his work is unmistakable.
